Strive for agricultural development: the governor’s call
Bengaluru / Dharwad; The agriculture sector is considered to be the most important in the Indian economy. The Government of India is implementing many schemes for the improvement of the country’s agriculture sector and for rural development. The Hon’ble Governor of Karnataka, Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot, said that this should be taken advantage of.
He spoke at the 36th Convocation of the University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad.
India’s agricultural research system has immensely contributed to increasing agricultural production and productivity. Its main feature is the development of high-yielding and disease-resistant varieties. He said that the Indian Council of Agricultural Research and State Agricultural Universities are immensely contributing to the generation and transfer of technology.
India is an agricultural country. Agriculture is considered the “soul” and “backbone of India”. Further efforts should be made to develop agriculture. Agriculture graduates should be linked to Atma Nirbhar Bharat and Eka Bharat. Knowledge learned should be shared with others. India is taking the lead in world peace and welfare. He said that the people of the young generation and the young leaders should work hard in terms of agriculture.
Dignitaries such as Minister N. Chaluvanarayanaswamy, Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR) and Vice Chancellor Dr. PL Patil were present in the programme.
