Matoshree Godutai Avvaji Award presented to Dr. Vilasvati Khuba
KALABURAGI; Chairperson of the Sharanabasaveshwar Vidya Vardak Sangha Matoshree Dr Dakshayini Avvaji on Tuesday presented the prestigious Matoshree Godutai Avvaji Award to dr Vilasvati Khuba , President of the Basava Samiti and noted social worker in recognition of the services rendered by her to the society.
Speaking after presenting the award at the Doddappa Appa Auditorium in the main campus of the Sharnbasva University, Dr Dakshayini Avvaji said that the Sharnbasva University presented the Matoshree Godutai Avvaji award to the noted social workers and others recognizing their contribution in different fields.
Showering glowing tributes on Dr Khuba, She said that the Sharnbasva University is honoured by conferring the award on such a towering personality who has devoted her entire life in the spread of the preachings and philosophy of 12th Century Social Reforber Mahatma Basaveshwar.
Dr Avvaji thanked Dr Khuba for providing her the first public platform by inviting to inaugurate the Mahadeviakkagala Sammelana couple of years back and providing her the much needed confidence to come out in public and speak. She said Godutai Avvaji was a perfect humanitarian and sacrificed her entire life in the service of the society. Besides being a perfect companion to 7th Peetathipathi of the Sharanabasaveshwar Samasthan Poojya Doddappa Appaji and worked for the empowerment of the women and was always on the side of the deprived section of the society.
Turning to the women students who had turned out in large number at the auditorium, Dr Avvaji said that she was impressed by the discipline exhibited by them and expressed her happiness about the latest facilities and teaching aid available at the Godutai college engineering college for women .
Earlier Dr Avvaji and Dr Khuba unveiled the white marble statue of Matoshree Godutai Avvaji in the college premises and offered floral tributes to the statue.
Dr Khuba in her address said that she was overwhelmed by the love and affection exhibited by Dr Avvaji and the University authorities and conferring the prestigious award. She said that her family and that of the Sharanabasaveshwar Samasthan had a long history of close relation. She recalled her association with Godutai Avvaji and said that Avvaji had specially come to Bengaluru to bless her on the occasion of her marriage.
Dr Khubha said that Godutai Avvaji who always showered love and affection on her during her life time was like a second mother to her. Secretary of the Sharanabasaveshwar Vidya Vardak Sangha Mr Basavaraj Deshmukh, Vice Chancellor of the University Dr Niranjan Nisty, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof V D Mytri, Registrar Dr Anilkumar Bidve, Registrar (Evaluation) Dr Basavaraj Matpathi, Dean Dr Lakshmi Patil Maka were among others who were present. Achievers and toppers among the faculty and the students were also honoured on the occasion.
