19th Annual Indian Royal Academy Awards Presented

Artists could change the mind of people through their art: Ustad

Kalaburagi: Now a days the world is going on in sensitive mode, thus artists have more responsibility to aware the society through their artworks said Gulbarga University Department of Visual Art coordinator Prof Abdul Rab Ustad. He was speaking after inaugurating 19th Annual Indian Royal Academy National Awards ceremony organized by Indian Royal Academy of Art and Culture at Kannada Bhavan on Monday. Ustad said artists have played a major role to strength the people and communal harmony in the society. Referring to Ghalib’s writing that painted by legendry artist MF Husain who gave a perfect shape of composition to that quotes. One can learn from his works he said.

Senior artist Manjula B. Jane expressed her views on efforts took by the academy. This academy is working since two decade to encourage the artists and bring them on one platform she said. The other guest artist secretary of Hyderabad Art Society J Venkateshwaralu said artists must be open mind. Truth should come out through their artworks he said. Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Vijaykumar Tegaltippi said that art, culture and literature have connected each other so we should not differentiate he said.

Academy president Rehaman Patel addressed the gathering.

Twenty artists attended to receive the award across the country. Mamta Bora from Bangalore, Syed Mustafa from Kalaburagi and Manish Kumar for Raipur (Chattishgarh) were honoured with cash prize of Rs.10,000 each. Aashima Mehrotra (Delhi), Rahul Ranade (Pune), Vaheed Patel and Venkatesh T both from Kalaburagi received Royal Gold Medal award. Apoorva M. Nadakatti, Ashwini Kulkarni both from Bangalore, Tanvi Parekh (Pune) and Soumya Patil from Kalaburagi received Royal Merit Award.

Those received Jury Choice Award-Azadi Ka Marit Mahotsav Special Award are Pooja S. Mudbool, Mallikarjun H. J. both from Kalaburagi, Dr. Anuja Phadke, Parag Kulkarni both from Pune, Siddanagouda S. Gabasavalagi (Yadgir), Girimallappa H. Pujari (Bagalkot), Dr. Shalini Singh (Bangalore) and Bhavani Kamble from Ilkal.

Senior artist Basawaraj Uppin, Subbayya Neela, Basawaraj Jane, Shivraj Andagi, Rajshekar Shammanna, M Sanjeev, Siddaram Hanchnal and others were present at the event.
