Three-day National level Workshop on Advanced Methods in Historical and Archaeological Research organized at CUK
KALABURAGI: “It is very significant to follow advanced methods to write history” said V. Nagaraj, President of the Mythic Society, Bengaluru. He was speaking in the inaugural session of three-day National level Workshop on Advanced Methods in Historical and Archaeological Research organised by the Department of History and Archaeology, CUK in collaboration with the Mythic Society, Bengaluru. He further said “in historical research we have to collaborate with various sciences and technology institutions to use available tools to validate true history which is free from bias. Today top courts are using historical evidences to resolve the litigations of various historical and archaeological sites.”
Prof. Battu Satyanarayana, Honourable Vice Chancellor CUK has inaugurated the conference and said “we have to teach the importance of history and its relevance in cultural values. Students need to cultivate scientific approaches to problem-solving.”
Dr. Arjun R, the organizing secretary of the workshop delivered introductory speech and said “this workshop focuses on identifying various research gaps and problems in history and archaeological research that have remained in hiatus as it needs advanced research methods to fill the gaps. Geo-spatial archaeology, archaeobotany, archaeozoology, geoarchaeology, paleo-genetic studies, museology, and field archaeology with rigorous investigations (exploration and excavations). There are increasing opportunities for research institutions and universities to undertake research with numerous kinds of fellowships, scholarships, and grants available. Yet, the research growth in terms of numbers and quality still needs to be improved in meeting the research problems and undertaking advanced methods and tools.”
On the occasion book edited by Dr. Arjun, R and Dr. M.N Bari titled “Emperors, Saints, and People: Revisiting Deccan History” published by Primus India and was unveiled.

Thanjavur, Shri. Uday Kumar P.L, Hon. Director, The Mythic Society Bengaluru Inscriptions 3D Digital Conservation Project, Bengaluru, Dr. Abhijit Dandekar, Dept. of AIHC & Archaeology, Deccan College, Pune, Dr. Shreekant Jadhav Somaiya University, Mumbai and Dr. Aruni, S.K. Deputy Director, Indian Council of Historical Research, Bengaluru delivered lectures in the workshop. Faculty members from different institutions across India participated in the workshop.
