Education: A Driving Force for Humanity’s Progress, Affirms Governor

Bengaluru / Vijayapura;  Speaking at the 15th Annual Convocation of Karnataka State Akkamahadevi Women University in Vijaypur, the Hon’ble Governor of Karnataka, Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot, emphasized the pivotal role of education in advancing humanity. He underscored the significant contributions of women in national development, highlighting the imperative of their full involvement for societal progress.

Quoting Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the Governor remarked, “The progress of a society is intricately tied to the status of its women.” He commended the contemporary women for their multifaceted contributions across various domains, balancing familial duties with societal responsibilities.

Governor Gehlot reaffirmed the constitutional commitment to gender equality, noting that the Indian Constitution unequivocally upholds women’s rights and empowers the state to ensure their advancement. He referenced legislative measures such as the establishment of the National Commission for Women and provisions for women’s representation in local and national governance.

Acknowledging governmental initiatives like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and Ujjwala Yojana, the Governor lauded efforts aimed at women’s economic and educational empowerment, fostering inclusive environments, and ensuring their safety and security.

Highlighting the centrality of education, Governor Gehlot emphasized its transformative potential, equating it to the worship of Goddess Lakshmi for wealth, Saraswati for knowledge, and Durga for strength. He applauded Karnataka State Akkamahadevi Women University for its relentless pursuit of women’s empowerment through education.

In a call to action, Governor Gehlot urged female graduates to prioritize national interests and actively contribute to bolstering the economy, steering the nation towards development.

The convocation ceremony also conferred an honorary doctorate upon Dakshayani S. Appa, President of Sharanbasaveshwar Vidyavardhak Sangh.

The event witnessed the presence of dignitaries including Higher Education Minister Dr. M. C. Sudhakar and Vice Chancellor Prof. B. K. Tulsimala.
