SKILL DEPT HELPS KARNATAKA YOUTHS LAND CUSHY JOBS ABROAD
- A batch of 94 candidates left for Slovakia
- 37 drivers from state get jobs in Hungary

Bengaluru, June 22: The Karnataka Skill Development Corporation (KSDC) has implemented its ambitious scheme to help state youths land jobs abroad. As part of the scheme, the KSDC has succeeded in providing jobs to 94 youths in Slovakia who have completed BE, diploma, ITI and other job oriented courses. Thanks to the initiative of Skill Development, Livelihood & Medical Education Minister Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil, these youths have now landed well paid jobs abroad and started shaping their careers.
The department has taken all the steps including training to job aspirants as per their qualification, getting visas, scrutinising documents, food, lodging and other facilities. Dr. Patil after learning that Slovakia has shown interest to recruit over two and half thousand assembly line operators from the state, made the officials of his department ink an agreement with the External Affairs ministry. The department invited eligible candidates and started recruitment process and as part of this arrangement, a batch of 94 candidates including 54 ITI and 31 diploma holders were sent to Slovakia.
FREE TRAINING; All the recruited candidates were given free training at Toyota Kirloskar unit in Bidadi. The minister had instructed officials that the department should bear the training expenses as the candidates hailed from economically weaker sections who would otherwise needed to pay Rs. 35,000 fee.
Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil who distributed flight tickets to the candidates in a send-off ceremony here, said that the first batch was sent on June 5 and second batch on June 20 and other batches on June 24 and July 1. The minister further added that each candidate would get 970 euros (Rs.86,000) per month as salary.
The KSDC has also facilitated jobs for 37 drivers in Hungary besides working out modalities for welders to get jobs in Mauritius and continuing recruitment process for other technicians and blue collar jobs.
The KSDC MD M Kanagavalli said that they are trying to meet the human resources demand from Australia, Japan, Germany, Finland, Norway and other European and Gulf countries.
