Glowing tributes paid to Dr. Sharnbaswappa Appaji for his contribution in the field of Education
KALABURAGI: Glowing tributes were paid to the 8th Mahadasoha Peetadhipathi of the Sharnbasaweshwar Samasthan Poojya Dr Sharnbaswappa Appaji, who is also the founder Chancellor of the Sharnbasva University, for his unmatched contribution in the field of Education and for his signal contribution in converting the once educationally backward Kalyana Karnataka region into a major Educational hub.
The religious heads participating in the Guru Vandana programme organized jointly by the Sharnbasaveshwar Vidya Vardak Sangha and the Sharnbasva University to pay their obeisance to Dr Appaji who was primarily responsible for establishing the first multi disciplinary private University in the entire North Karnataka, were unanimous in their opinion that Dr Appaji by starting chain of educational institutions from Montessori to the Post Graduation in different disciplines was responsible for the educational empowerment of tens of thousands of students of this region.
Poojya Karisiddeshwara Shivacharyaru of the Kalmatha at Harsur village in Chitapur taluk in Kalaburagi district, Poojya Abhinava Parvatheshwara Mahaswamigalu of the Belagumpi Math and Poojya Dr Rajasekhara Shivacharyaru of the Chowdapuri Math blessed Dr Appaji, his successor and 9th Peetadhipathi of the Sharnbasaveshwar Samasthan Chiranjivee Poojya Doddappa Appa, and Chairperson of the Sharnabasaveshwar Vidya Vardak Sangha Matoshree Dr Dakshayini Avvaji on the occasion and said that Dr Appaji was the right person to be called and identified as Guru since he had opened new avenues of educational opportunities for the children of the region and providing quality education at affordable cost.
Secretary of the Sharanabasaveshwar Vidya Vardak Sangha Mr Basavaraj Deshmukh in his welcome address that it was the Sharnabasaveshwar Samasthan which started the Guru-Shishya tradition in the region more than 250 years back and this tradition has continued even now and unlike in other shrines it was the Guru and Shishya are the presiding deities in the Sharnbasaveshwar Shrine in Kalaburagi city.
Matoshree Dr Dakshayini Avvaji accompanied by Chiranjivee Poojya Doddappa Appa and his sisters Maheshwari, Shivani and Bhavani offered Padapuja to Dr Appaji and three other religious heads including Poojya Dr Rajasekhar Shivacharyaru, Poojya Karisiddeshwara Shivacharyaru and Poojya Abhinava Parvetheshwara Mahaswamigalu.
Primarily it was a musical tribute by the students and faculty of the Music Department of the Sharnbasva University to Dr Appaji. The students and the faculty of the music department with their soulful magical rendition of Vachanas of the 12th Century in the music form for more than two hours kept the audience spellbound. On the same occasion, Ph. D. graduates were felicitated.
Prominent among others present in the Guru Vandana Programme included Vice Chancellor of the University Prof Anilkumar Bidve, Registrar Dr S G Dollegoudar, Registrar (Evaluation) Dr S H Honnalli, Dean Dr Lakshmi Patil Maka, Deans of the different faculties ,Heads of all the Departments, Principals and staff of all the colleges run by the Sangha and others. Prominent among the devotees who offered Guru Vandana to Dr Appaji and felicitated included Mr Jagannath Diggi, his wife Jagadevi Diggi and Dr Basavaraj Diggi.
