E-Yantra Laboratory with technical knowhow of IIT Bombay inaugurated in Sharnbasva University
KALABURAGI: Principal Investigator of e-Yantra in Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay Prof Kavi Arya virtually inaugurated the state of art e-Yantra laboratory in the Electronic and Communication Department (exclusively for women) in the Sharnbasva University in Kalaburagi on Thursday.
The laboratory, first of its kind in the region, is being set up with the technical knowhow of the IIT Bombay under the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT), which would promote hands on learning using robotics and innovative thinking among the students. Prof Arya is the convener of the Embedded and Real time Systems Lab (ERTS) and Principal investigator of the e-Yantra project, funded by the Union Government to popularize “Project Based Learning” using Robotics in Engineering Colleges.
The faculty of the IIT Bombay would provide 30-day online training to both the students and the teaching staff on robotics and e-Yantra laboratory and provide certificates to the successful students and the teaching staff at the end of the training programme. The IIT Bombay has provided the tools and other laboratory equipments for its installation in the Sharnbasva University.
Vice Chancellor of the Sharnbasva University Prof Anilkumar Bidve, Dean of the University Dr Lakshmi Patil Maka and faculty of the Electronics and communication department were present at the virtual inaugural of the laboratory which would go long way in training the students to meet the challenges of rapidly evolving world of technology in which robotics were playing a pivotal role in every industry in shaping the future.
The Laboratory would provide practical exposure to the students to the cutting edge technologies through advanced robotics established in the Laboratory which would bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. By learning robotics, automation and embedded systems with the help of the laboratory, the students could develop critical problem solving skills, which was the need of the hour.
