The 3rd and 4th Convocation of Sharnbasva University on September 07
KALABURAGI; The Third and Fourth Convocation of the Sharnbasva University would be held at the Poojya Basavarajappa Appa Centenary Hall in Kalaburagi City on September 07.
Former Chairman of the Space Commission and Vikram Sarabhai Professor Dr A S Kiran Kumar and Secretary of the Department of Defence R&D and Chairman Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) Dr G Satheesh Reddy would deliver the Third and Fourth Convocation address respectively.
Chancellor of the University Mahadasohi 8th Peetathipathi of the Sharanabasaveshwar Samasthan Poojya Dr Sharanbaswappa Appaji would preside over the convocation and give away the Gold Medals, Cash prizes and degree certificates to the meritorious students. Chairperson of the Sharanabasaveshwar Vidya Vardak Sangha Matoshree Dr Dakshayini Avvaji, Secretary of the Sangha Mr Basavaraj Deshmukh, 9th Peetathipathi of the Samasthan Poojya Chiranjivi Doddappa Appa, Vice Chancellor of the University Dr Niranjan V Nisty and the Board of Governors of the University and members of the Academic Council would be present.
An Alumni of the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru Dr Kiran Kumar played a pivotal role in the development of the indigenous launch vehicles and related technologies and getting assured access to India in the space. He has also immensely contributed in the design and development of more than 50 Electro-Optical imaging sensors flown on space borne platforms starting from Bhaskara TV payload in 1979 to the payloads onboard the Mars orbiter Mission in 2013. Besides this Dr Kiran Kumar played a crucial role in Chandrayaan-1 mission right from the conceptualization stage and had made exemplary contribution to the success of Mars Orbiter Mission and Reusable Launch Vehicle Technology Development.
One of the top defence scientist in the country, Dr Satheesh Reddy is involved in the development of major programs on missiles and strategic systems, fighter aircrafts and unmanned aerial defence systems, underwater systems, radar systems, strategic materials, armaments and futuristic technologies. Dr Satheesh Reddy has designed and developed Navigation technologies and system which form the core of the defence assets for multiple platforms, enabling self reliance in these critical areas.
Under the watchful eyes of Dr Reddy India’s maiden successful test of anti-satellite (ASAT) missile mission Shakti was successfully executed. He was force behind the development of Air defences systems BVRAM Astra, Akash, MRSAM, LRSAM, QRSAM. The world’s longest range gun AAGs, anti-radiation missile, smart air field weapons, smart bombs and missile assisted torpedo release systems.
