Digital Media had helped in customizing the reading pleasure of a newspaper

KALABURAGI: Founder Editor of the India Forum and a pioneer in promoting the digital media in the country Mr Subash Rai has said that the digital media has helped in customizing the experience of the readers of reading news content sitting in their living rooms.

Delivering a special lecture on the second day of the 3-day International Conference on Multidisciplinary Research in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication in Sharnbasva University on Wednesday, Mr Rai, who had worked as the Digital Editor in Hindustan Times, The Hindu, and The New Indian Express and a rich teaching experience as a teaching faculty in Asian College of Journalism and Indian Institute of Journalism and New Media, said that the digitalization of the media has helped in transforming the concept of journalism from the laid back  journalism to “immediate” journalism where the happenings around oneself is brought to the living room within minutes.

Mr Rai who dwelt in detail the evolution of the digital media in India said that the digital journalism was the future and was the potential journalism.  The digital journalism has made things easy for the readers. The emergence of new technologies including the Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning has helped in taking the digital journalism to the next levels. With the help of the Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning one can read the daily newspapers in their living rooms in the electronic format.

The advent of the artificial intelligence and the machine learning has also reduced dependence of the Journalists to write the reports of the quarterly results of a company and the machines perform the duty of the journalists of writing these reports if the required details are fed to the computer.

Mr Rai said that as in the case of print journalism, the research  plays a pivtal role in the news coverage in the digital journalism also. Besides the journalists in the digital media keep themselves abreast of happening around them, should also give importance to the research aspect before taking up any assignment.

Special Correspondent of The Hindu Mr Rishikesh Bahadur Desai and Chief of Bureau of Prajavani  Ms Rashmi S also delivered special lectures on the the “Need for Research in the mainstream Journalism” and “Role of the Research in the Development Journalism”.

Dr. Namrutha Raut, HOD Department of Journalism in KBN University, Baburao Yadrami, Senior Journalist, Vijayavani,  were also  present on the occasion.
