Bidri craft artist Shah Rasheed Ahmed Quadri conferred with prestigious Padma Shri award
Bidri craft artisan Shah Rasheed Ahmed Quadri being conferred with prestigious Padma Shri award 2023 at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Wednesday. The award was presented by President of India Droupadi Murmu.
Quadri thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and expressed gratitude while meeting him after being conferred with the award and also he thanked all others who put their efforts to felicitate him with prestigious award. Home Minister Amit Shah, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and others were present on the occasion.
Bidri Art craft is a 14th century innovation developed during the rule of Sultan Ahmed Shah Wali Bahmani. This art is serving since 600 years from generations. It has a unique technique of silver inlaying on to the black metal surface.
Quadri has re introduced ancient designs of Bidri Art. He is known for his innovation of phooljahdi and sheet work.
He has attended many national and international workshops and gave live demonstrations. He has district, state, national awards to his credit.
Being a master craft artist he has trained many youngsters to adopt the Bidri craft art.
This award has brought happiness among the people of Karnataka and art world.
