Governor’s Call to Students: Pledge Towards a Self-Reliant India
Bangalore; In a resounding call to action, the Hon’ble Governor of Karnataka, Thaawarchand Gehlot, has urged students to commit themselves to the vision of a self-reliant India, aligning education with skills and moral values. The Governor emphasized the pivotal role each individual, particularly students, will play in achieving this transformational goal, echoing the commitment of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India.
Addressing the audience as the esteemed guest at Reva University Bangalore’s 8th convocation, the Governor praised the remarkable strides the nation has taken in its 75 years of independence, bolstering the economy to its current status as the fifth largest globally. The resolve, he affirmed, is to propel the nation to become the world’s largest economy, necessitating collective efforts to ascend to the third position.
Governor Gehlot emphasized, “The next 24 years leading up to our centenary mark a golden era of duty towards positioning our nation amongst the world’s preeminent. We must seize this duty as an opportunity, nurturing aspirations of entrepreneurial success among our youth. It is imperative that they gain proficiency in technical domains and strategically advance.”
Highlighting the pivotal role universities play in a nation’s development, the Governor urged educators to embrace evolving times and empower students with practical, societal, and cutting-edge knowledge.
Extolling Karnataka as a beacon in education and technology, he lauded Reva University for its distinguished contribution. Established in 2004 with a mission to foster societal self-reliance and effect socio-economic transformation, Reva University stands at the forefront of technological education, nurturing excellence, empowerment, entrepreneurship, and enlightenment.
Governor Gehlot praised the university for its contemporary approach, offering technical education in tandem with a rich tapestry of India’s history, culture, and civilization.
He reflected, “Our nation’s historical contributions in knowledge, science, and education once led the world, earning us the moniker ‘Golden Bird.’ Rooted in ancient philosophies of ‘Vasudevam Kudumbakam’ and ‘Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah, Sarve Santhu Niramaya,’ our cultural and educational heritage remains profoundly relevant. Education, a cornerstone of success, imbues life with skills, offering a path to remarkable achievements.”
The Governor invoked Swami Vivekananda’s wisdom, advocating for an education that builds character, fosters mental and intellectual growth, and empowers self-sufficiency.
With a solemn nod to the pressing environmental challenges of our time, Governor Gehlot rallied for collective action. He lauded Reva University’s steadfast commitment to environmental stewardship, especially through the annual “Vana Mahotsava” initiative, which has seen the planting of thousands of trees.
The event was graced by dignitaries including Dr. T.G. Sitaram, President of the All India Board of Technical Education, New Delhi; Dr. P. Shyam Raju, Chancellor of Reva University; Shri Umesh S. Raju, Pro-Chancellor; and Dr. M. Dhananjay, Vice Chancellor.
