Inspiring Achievers Commended by Governor at University of Mysore’s 103rd Convocation

Bengaluru; Thaawarchand Gehlot, Hon’ble Governor of Karnataka, expressed his delight as the University bestowed honorary degrees upon distinguished individuals for their outstanding contributions in education, literature, and social affairs. Their remarkable achievements stand as a beacon of inspiration for the student community, and their service to society remains steadfast.

Addressing the attendees at the 103rd convocation of the University of Mysore, Governor Gehlot urged the students to actively engage in the construction of a “New India, Best India” and to champion the cause of a “Self-reliant India” through the knowledge gained from this esteemed institution.

Reflecting on India’s rich educational and cultural heritage, the Governor emphasized the ancient philosophy of “Vasudhaiva Kudumbakam,” which emphasizes global unity, peace, equality, and harmony. He highlighted India’s historical prominence in knowledge, science, and education, attributing it to an education system deeply rooted in holistic personal development and spiritual enlightenment. This legacy has contributed to India’s global leadership and economic strength, earning it the moniker of the “golden bird.”

Governor Gehlot lauded the Honorable Prime Minister’s vision of crafting a new, self-sufficient India by integrating education with practical skills and moral values. He underscored the pivotal role of the youth in shaping the nation’s future and progress, emphasizing that local empowerment hinges on empowering the youth. The Governor further emphasized the transformative potential of initiatives like Make in India, Digital India, Startup, and Standup projects in forging a better, self-reliant India.

Anticipating the forthcoming 100th year of independence in 24 years, Governor Gehlot urged collective efforts towards propelling the nation to the forefront of global economic development. He highlighted the urgency of addressing environmental imbalances, affirming our shared responsibility for environmental protection and advancement.

Mysore, renowned for its architectural marvels, cultural heritage, and educational prominence, served as the fitting backdrop for this significant event. The University of Mysore, established in 1916, has steadfastly pursued its mission of providing inclusive education for societal transformation, fostering self-reliance, egalitarianism, prosperity, excellence, empowerment, entrepreneurship, and enlightenment.

During the convocation ceremony, Nadoja Dr. PS Shankar, KB Ganapathy of Mysore Mitra Newspaper, and former cricketer Javagal Srinath were conferred with honorary doctorates in recognition of their exemplary contributions. Distinguished personalities, including Padma Vibhushan awardee and former Director General of DRDO, Dr. Vasudeva K. Atre, Higher Education Minister Dr. MC Sudhakar, and Vice Chancellor Prof. NK Loknath, graced the occasion with their presence.
