Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot Urges Youth to Unite for Global Peace, Equality, and Harmony
Bengaluru /Dharwad; At the distinguished 73rd convocation of Karnataka University Dharwad, Thaawarchand Gehlot, the Hon’ble Governor of Karnataka, emphasized the profound significance of India’s ancient educational and cultural heritage. He highlighted the timeless ethos of “Vasudhaiva Kudumbakam,” which champions the ideals of universal brotherhood, global peace, equality, and harmonious coexistence.
Governor Gehlot encouraged today’s students to draw inspiration from their education and become beacons of progress for future generations. He rallied them to actively engage in realizing the vision of “Ek Bharat – Shrestha Bharat” and “Swavalambi India,” underlining the imperative of nurturing world fraternity, universal peace, equality, and societal concord.
Reflecting on India’s rich intellectual legacy, Governor Gehlot lauded the unparalleled achievements of ancient institutions like Nalanda and Takshashila, where scholars and researchers from across the globe congregated to advance knowledge in diverse disciplines encompassing mathematics, astronomy, medicine, engineering, and architecture. He stressed the contemporary need for education that fosters holistic national development, firmly rooted in the ethos of culture and values.
Furthermore, Governor Gehlot underscored the pivotal role of education as a catalyst for personal success and societal progress. He advocated for a paradigm shift towards self-employment, advocating for project-based learning as a cornerstone of modern education. The Governor emphasized the imperative for universities to champion innovation and entrepreneurship, empowering students to embark on self-sustained journeys.
Governor Gehlot affirmed that the onus lies on educators, institutions, policymakers, philanthropists, and society at large to infuse educational curricula with cultural and humane values, thereby propelling comprehensive development and technological advancement.
Acknowledging India’s monumental strides post-independence, Governor Gehlot celebrated the nation’s emergence as the world’s fifth-largest economy. He articulated an ambitious vision to ascend further, aspiring for India to rank among the top three global economies. He called for collective efforts to elevate the nation into a bastion of development while safeguarding the environment.
Highlighting Karnataka’s distinguished status as a vanguard state, Governor Gehlot commended Hubballi-Dharwad as the cultural epicenter. He paid tribute to the prodigious contributions of Dharwad in the realm of classical music, asserting the state’s cultural significance. Governor Gehlot applauded Karnataka University for its illustrious standing, both nationally and internationally, lauding its manifold achievements.
