Sarangadhara Deshikendra Swamiji’s demands Padma Vibhushan Award to Dr Appaji

KALABURAGI;  Poojya Jagadguru Dr Sarangadhara Deshikendra Mahaswamigalu of Saranga Math in Srisailam in Andhra Pradesh  has demanded the central government to confer Padma Vibhushan to Mahadasohi Poojya Dr Sharnbaswappa Appaji, the Chancellor of the Sharnbasva University and President of the Sharnbasveshwar Vidya Vardak Sangha recognizing his immense contribution in the field of Education.

Inaugurating the Birthday celebrations of Poojya Dr Appaji, Poojya Matoshiri Dr Dakshayni Avvaji and Chiranjeevi Doddappa Appaji in Kalaburagi city on Saturday, Dr Sarangadhara Deshikendra Mahaswamigalu said that the state government should  also confer the state’s highest civilian honour of Karnataka Ratna Award to Dr Appaji, who has single handedly converted the once educationally backward Kalaburagi region into a major educational hub.

The Swamiji said that these awards should have been conferred on Dr Appaji long back, but for the reasons best known to the state and central governments this due honours were denied till this date. “This  mistake should be corrected immediately and the elected representatives of the region should take up with both the state and central governments to honour Dr Appaji at the earliest with these awards”.

He said that the state government should pass a resolution in the cabinet asking the central government to confer the Padma Vibhushan award immediately and also take a decision on conferring the Karnataka Ratna award on Dr Appaji. The contribution of Dr Appaji for the educational empowerment of the children has been immense and the visionary eductionist not only opened new vistas of educational opportunities to the people of the region but also ensured imparting of the quality education in all the educational institutions, including the Sharnbasva University.

“This can be done only by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, who is doing good work in the state and Mr Yeddyurappa should not only be allowed to be Chief Minister for the full term but also be made the Chief Minister next term also”.

The Swamiji pointed out that at the time when Dr Appaji took the reigns of Sharanabasava Samasthan and Sharanabasaveshwar Vidya Vardak Sangha after the death of 7th Peetathipathi Poojya Doddappa Appa, the Samasthan and Sangha had a loan burden of Rs 40,000/- and Dr Appaji not only cleared all the loans but also ensured the gradual growth of educational institution by constructing the institution brick by brick and eventually establishing the Sharnbasva University.
