Socio-cultural messages through paintings

KALABURAGI: It’s a challenging subject to the artist to express their ideas through his canvas said Gulbarga University, Department of Visual Art coordinator Prof Abdul Rab Ustad after inaugurating a three-day solo exhibition of paintings of city-based artist Rehaman Patel at Ahsan Design Studio here. He said Patel has expressed socio-cultural concepts through his canvas are widely recognized.

Senior artist Basawaraj Jane said it’s a show supported by the Department of Kannada and Culture is appreciable. Many artists have got chance to exhibit their talent through this department. Patel is always involved in contemporary subjects he said.

A solo exhibition titled “Metaphor” is a figure of speech in which one thing implicitly represents another thing.  It’s a metaphor. In the arts, we actually do something very similar with our uses of imagery. A visual metaphor is an image that the viewer is meant to understand as a symbol for something else said artist Rehaman Patel in his address. Paintings based on Demonetization, Not in my name, Covid-19, Musical expression, Indian culture and many others are on display. Show will remain open till October 30 daily from 11 am to 5 pm.
