Two Day Birthday Fete of Poojya Dr Sharnbaswappa Appaji from November 13
KALABURAGI; The 88th Birthday celebrations of Mahadasoha Peetathipathi of the Sharnabasaveshwar Samasthan and Chancellor of the Sharnbasva University Poojya Dr Sharnbaswappa Appaji would be celebrated on a grand scale for two days on November 13 and 14 in Kalaburagi City.
Chairperson of the Sharanabasaveshwar Vidya Vardak Sangha Matoshree Dr Dakshayani Avvaji and Secretary of the Sangha Mr Basawaraj Deshmukh in a press released issued in Kalaburagi city on Wednesday said that the main feature of the celebration is the release of the Abhinandana Grantha, a 1000-odd page volume consisting of write ups on the lifetime contribution of the Octogenarian philosopher and visionary educationist Poojya Dr Appaji by different personalities, senior writers and leaders from different walks of life. The volume would consist some rare photographs from the archives of the Samasthan on the important events in the life of Poojya Appaji.
The Abhinandana Grantha would be taken in a procession along with two other books including the epic “Sri Sharnbasva Mahadasoha Darshanam” written by Dr Shivraj Shashtri Herur and another book “Dasoha Bhandari Sharnabasava Janapada Mahakavya” by Dr Neelambika Police Patil, the book contains 11111 ”tripadi” (three line stanza poems). The three books which would be carried in a ceremonial procession from Sharnbasva University to the Sharnbasaveshwar Shrine. Later, the three volumes would be placed atop of a decorated elephant and taken around the temple complex, before the release of the books in the Dasoha Mahamane.
The main celebration of the birthday of Poojya Dr Appaji would be held at the Dasoha Mahamane on November 14 with the personalities from all walks of life, political leaders, Heads of different religious mutts, swamijis of different religious mutts, educationists, students of all the colleges and Sharnbasva University under the aegis of Sharnbasaveshwar Vidya Vardak Sangha would participate in the celebrations.
The teaching staff and the students of the Sharnbasva University would organize a Deepotsava by lighting 11,000 lights in the Sharnbasaveshwar Shrine to celebrate the birthday of Poojya Appaji.
The two-day birthday celebrations of Poojya Appaji would be preceded by series of cultural events, sports meets, debates, elocution and essay competitions on the life and contribution of Poojya Dr Appaji, distribution of blankets, cloths, food and fruit to the needy would be held for five days from November 09.
The Sharnbasva University besides organizing a mega sports meet for its students as part of the birthday celebrations, would also conduct essay, elocution and debates on the life of Poojya Dr Appaji, and a team of teaching staff and students would also visit the Gulbarga Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital in Kalaburagi City and distribute afternoon lunch to the patients as part of the celebrations. Another team of teaching staff and students would visit at least three Goshalas (cow shelters) in the city and in its outskirts and feed the cows sheltered in these Goshalas.
The students and teachers of the Godutai Degree College for Women would spend a day with the inmates of the Mahatma Gandhi Leprosy Colony in the city and distribute blankets, cloths to the leprosy afflicted patients and those cured of the disease. They would also distribute lunch to the inmates as part of the celebrations.
The Teaching staff and Students of the Sharanabasaveshwar Science College would visit the Basaveshwar Teaching and General Hospital and distribute lunch to all the inpatients as part of the celebrations and also visit the Government Blind School in the city and distribute fruits to the students as part of the celebrations.
The Travel and Tourism Department of the Sharnbasva University would organize a mega blood donation camp and conduct an eye donation pledge to all the students as part of the celebrations. Other colleges would also organize special sports meet and cultural activities and competitions to the students as part of the birthday celebrations.
