KBN Champions Trophy; Stars Shine Strikers Rock

KALABURAGI; Rauza Stars and Sangthrashwadi Strikers marked their first victory at the second day of ongoing KBN Champions Trophy 2023 on Wednesday at KBN Turf Ground, Sangtrashwadi.

The first match of the day was played between Rauza Stars and Mominpura Warriors. Rauza Stars on the toss and opted to field.

Openers of Mominpura Warriors, Preetesh Ingale and Vijaykumar Ankalkar were confident and gave a steady opening to the game. Rauza Stars bagged Warriors’ first wicket in the 3rd over and put them under pressure. Vijaykumar was lbw on the ball of Mari Basava. Vijaykumar went on duck.  Abul Hassan Khalid was seen with Preetesh Ingale. They showed good understanding and altered the score card in a short span of time. Abul Hasan completed his half century in 33 balls with 7 boundaries and 2 sixes.

Much needed break was given by Abhullah Bouyomi when he took the wicket of Preetesh Ingale. Prretesh Ingale made 36 runs in 32 balls. Sharan was the next batsman, but was run out by Praveen Deshetty in the first ball itself. Stars put pressure on Warriors by taking another wicket of Santosh Matti.

Santosh Matti scored only 3 runs and was bowled by Mari Basav. Warriors lost 4 wickets in 15 overs when team total was 112.  Saeed Jagirdar S J bagged the wicket of Abul Hasan, who was the backbone of  Warriors.  Abul Hasan made 71 runs in 52 balls. He hit 7 boundariea and 2 big sixes. Warriors lost its big fish. Vijay Kumar Rathod added 17 runs. Warriors made 155 at the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs.

The Openers of Rauza Stars, Ali Al Hussaini and Imran Khan gave excellent opening and started the chase of the target. Flood of boundaries came from the openers from the first over itself. This partnership was broken by Sharan Patil by taking the wicket of Imran Khan in the 4th over. Imran Khan made 14 runs off 13 balls with 3 boundaries. Praveen Deshetty was paired with Ali Al Hussaini.

Captain Janab Ali Al Hussaini was bowled by Vishwanath in the 5th over. Ali Al Hussaini made 17 runs off 14 balls with 4 boundaries. Warriors created stress on Stars when Vijay Ankalkar took the wicket of Pravin Deshetty when the team total was only 55. Praveen made only 7 runs.

The next batsmen pair Sourab Muttur and Vicky MP took the responsibility to stand by the team to beat opponents. They made 41 runs together in 34 balls and geared up the score card to triple digit. But, Abul Hasan Khalid gave big break through to his team by howling the wicket of big fish Sourab Muttur. Sourab Muttur made 38 runs off 31 balls with 5 boundaries.

 Saeed Jagirdar joined Vicky. They added quick  56  runs in 31 balls. This magical partnership turned the match around.  The match full of twists and turns ended when Saeed Jagirdar hit 2 sixes and brought the victory to the team. What a grand victory!  Rauza Stars won the match by 6 wickets.

The second match of the day was between Gunj Gladiators and Sangtrashwadi Strikers. The toss was won by Sangtrashwadi Strikers who opted to bowl first. The openers of Gunj Gladiators were   Niranjan and Marco Wyncguard. They were in full form to collect the huge total. They scored 30 runs together till their partnership was broken by Shreyas Puranik. Niranjan was out after scoring 9 runs.

Syed Tameem Hussaini  joined and went back on duck. Marco Wyncguard made 34 runs in 27 balls with 7 boundaries. Walid Saaban and Owais Abdul Wahed made 54 runs in partnership. Owais’ wicket was taken by Jared Wilson.  Owais made 33 runs. Tushar Singh (10), Md.Muneer (29). Gunj Gladiators scored 141 at the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs.

The openers of  Sangtrashwadi Strikers were Thippa Reddy and Harshvardhan. Thippa Reddy was out on the very first ball of the first over. Vivek Naik took the wicket. Harshavardhan K was also out in the 2nd over after scoring a single. Shreyas Puranik and Avinash D made 58 runs in 31 balls.  Jared Wilson and Avinash D made 78 runs in 63 balls. Avinash D added 79 runs to the team total. Sangtrashwadi Strikers won the match easily by 6 wickets.

Man of the match award, Highest six award, Orange cap, purple cap were given at the Presentation Ceremony. Naveen Shouri anchored the Presentation Ceremony.
