Indian Knowledge System has answers for leading a healthy and happy life
KALABURAGI; Director of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Dharwad Dr Venkappayya R Desai said that the ancient Indian Knowledge System had all the answers and solutions for achieving all round health and wellness in the life.
Delivering a lecture on “Health and Wellness Through Indian Knowledge System” at the launch of the “Voice of Kalaburagi Academicians” organized by the Akhil Bharatiya Rashtroya Shaikshik Mahasangha (ABRSM) in association with Sharnbasva University in Kalaburagi city on Saturday, Dr Desai quoting extensively from the Vedas and other ancient books said that the traditional Indian Knowledge System guided the humankind for achieving wellness and happiness throughout the life by practicing simple methods.
Dr Desai said that drinking pure water, eating healthy food and performing Yoga routines regularly was enough to lead a healthy life. “Leading a healthy life without the need of any medicines itself would provide satisfaction, happiness and wellness in one’s life”. One of the main reasons for all health problems was the consumption of the impure water and the water laced with arsenic content and fluoride content.
He said several parts of the country is faced with the major problem of supply of impure water due to various reasons including the over-exploitation of the groundwater sources and the contamination of the river water sources. The only solution before the authorities was to tap every single drop of rain water for providing potable drinking water and also prevent the excess water, particularly during the floods, going into the sea by saving it and using it to meet the drinking water requirements.
Dr Desai said that apart from timely eating of healthy food, regular physical exercises, particularly the Yogasanas would help in preventing almost all the diseases and keep one away from the harmful medicines. He said that regular practice of Surya Namaskar accompanied with other Yogasanas would help in leading a healthy life and prevent all the ailments.
-All India Joint Organising Secretary of the ABRSM Mr Guntha Laxman in his introductory remarks said that ABRSM was a platform for the teachers to work in the direction of achieving the avowed objective of “Education in the Interest of the Nation, Teachers in the Interests of Edcucation and Teachers in the Interest of Education”. The Voice of Kalaburagi launched on Saturday would provide a platform for the teaching community to express their ideas and suggest changes in the present education system.
He said that the ABRSM was a union of teachers and would always stand by the interests of the teaching community and take up the problems faced by them with the Union and State governments. Mr Laxman said that the ABRSM worked in the direction of supporting the government’s initiative to become a developed India in the near future and become a force to reckon with in the international forums.
Mr Laxman stressed the need for raising voice against the forces which were inimical to the development of India and those who want to weaken the country. Prominent among others who spoke on the occasion included Secretary of the Sharnabasaveshwar Vidya Vardak Sangha Mr Basavaraj Deshmukh, Prof Basavaraj Gadgi and others.
