Intelligence blended with wisdom was required to take on the challenges of changing world says Prof Thyagaraja
KALABURAGI; The Vice Chancellor of the Rani Chennamma University Prof C M Thyagaraja said that the younger generation should equally blend of intelligence and worldly wisdom to take on the challenges of the changing world and its pace of transformation driven by technology, climate challenges and social movements.
Delivering the 6th Convocation address of theSharnbasva University at the Poojya Basavarajappa Appa Memorial Auditorium in Kalaburagi City on Saturday, Thyagaraja quoted Albert Einstein’s warning “The World is a dangerous place to live, not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don’t do anything about it” and told the young graduates passing out from the University that the world was waiting for them to make a mark—not just through their professional expertise but through their ability to think critically, act ethically and be compassionate.
Prof Thyagaraja said that the young graduates passing out of the University in their step forward should remember that the true measure of a person’s success was their ability to adapt, to serve and to make the world better than they found it. “The living philosophy of Basaveshwara guide you in becoming responsible global citizens—equipped with the knowledge, skills and values to confront the challenges of a fast changing world”.
Prof Thyagara said that one should lead the life in a manner where one is resourceful and contribute to the society, such individuals are always in high demand,”if one leads a live a life without being useful to , society would shun you. Without being adept in body, speech and mind, you cannot be resourceful or contribute effectively to the society.” An Achiever is always resourceful and an asset to others, never becoming redundant and a burden to others.
He said that Intelligence, strength, fame, courage, fearlessness, good health, sharp wit and good communication skills are the eight qualities needed to become a greater achiever in any field. Everyone was working hard to make extra money by sacrificing their comforts and toil day and night in search of wealth for a better life.
“The money we earn stays with us at best till the end of the life, but there is no guarantee that wealth brings happiness into our lives, “the unutilized wealth we have is like undigested food that torments us. Such wealth initially appears thrilling but ends up causing pain and suffering”.
In a word of advise to the young graduates Prof Thyagaraja said that Financial freedom is not free froma all troubles, hence, one should develop a mindset where working smart in the present with preparation for the future. He said that in this everybody is a treasure hunter and unfortunately everybody seek this treasure from outside, the outer wealth has limited application and cannotgive all round security.
“Outer wealth is confined to thls life alone, and we cannot take it with us when we die and there is no guarantee thatey we leave behind will be utilized properly> But, there is an inexhaustible wealth in the form of inner wealth which would remains all the time even after death. This inner wealth cannot be taxed by the government nor it can be stolen. “No one who has tapped into the inner wealth has ever become impoverished in life. That inner treasure in us is called Dhanvantari– “Dhan” Means wealth and “antari” means inner.
