Tourism Sector looking up: Dr Nisty

KALABURAGI: Vice Chancellor of the Sharnbasva University Dr Niranjan V Nisty said that the Tourism Sector which was hard hit during the pandemic period was looking up and “we can already see green shoots in the tourism sector and the future appears to be bright for the tourism sector in India”.

Speaking at the World Tourism Day organized by the Department of Tourism and Travel at the Dasohamahamane in the Sharnbasveshwar Shrine campus in Kalaburagi City on Thursday, Dr Nisty said that the Tourism Sector and its subsidiaries were the one sector which took the severe blow of the effects of the outbreak of the Covid-19. Not only the domestic tourism was severely affected, international tourism was also deeply affected due to the outbreak of pandemic.

However, with the decreasing signs of the pandemic and the recovery of the economy present a rosy picture for the tourism sector in the days to come, Dr Nisty said and added that India had a very rich tourism potential and unfortunately this potential is yet to be tapped in India. With the rich tourism potential in almost all areas of interest, India can become a major tourist destination if these potential is tapped properly with the government support.

Mahadasoha Peetathipathi of the Sharanabasaveshwar Samasthan and Chancellor of the Sharnbasva University Poojya Dr Sharanabaswappa Appaji and Chairperson of the Sharanabasaveshwar Vidya Vardak Sangha Matoshri Dr Dakshayini Avvaji released two books International Geography of Tourism IATA Area I and II and International Geography of Tourism IATA area III penned by Ms Vanishree, Dilpkumar Ambadas Patil, Rohan M Mehtre, Kamalashree Kanti and Priya Patil on the occasion.

Secretary of the Sharnbasaveshwar Vidya Vardak Sangha and Member of the Board of Governors (BOG) of the Sharnbasva University Mr Basavaraj Deshmukh in his presidential remarks echoed the views expressed by the Vice Chancellor and said that the outbreak of pandemic has infused health conscious among the people and the living styles of the people in general has changed after the outbreak of the pandemic. “Yoga is fast becoming a habit among the Indians now and everybody should practice Suryanamaskar every day to keep themselves hale and healthy”.

Nutritionist Dr Sheela Siddaram in her address said that one of the major reasons for the malnutrition among the children and the adults in the country was the change in the food habits and the neglect of the traditional food practices. “The culture of the fast food which has spread its tentacles even to the remote rural areas has harmed the health of the general population, more particularly the children.”

Another expert in the Nutrition and food specialist Prof Vishaka in her address said that there was a need for establishing a food testing unit in Kalaburagi.

Pro Vice Chancellor of the Sharnbasva University Prof V D Mytri, Registrar Dr Anilkumar Bidve, Registrar Evaluation Dr Basawaraj Mathapati, Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies Dr S H Honnalli, Chairperson of the Department of tourism and Travel Ms Vanishree were among others who were present.
