Sad demise of Black Bear Mohan

Bengaluru: Bannerghatta Biological Park regret to inform the sad demise of our beloved Himalayan Black Bear Mohan on 12-05-2022 in the early morning who was rescued from New Grand Circus, Belgaum. Mohan was acquired on 10/05/2002 and was approximately 27 years. Postmortem report reveals that the death was due to age old related lympho sarcoma. Generally in captivity Himalayan Black Bears live for 25-30 years.

He was ailing from age related problems from past 15 days and  eventually did not respond to treatment and succumbed to death. The visceral samples are collected and sent to IAH&VB Lab for further examination.
