100 Feet Monumental National Flag dedicated to Nation on Gandhi Jayanti to signify and promote global peace and harmony: HM Maheshwaraiah
Kalaburagi: Gandhi Jayanti, the International Day of Non-Violence was organizedin a colorful and significant way this time. Prof. H.M. Maheshwaraiah dedicated 100 feet Monumental Indian National Flag to the nation to commemorate 151st birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and International Day of Nonviolence, to signify and promote global peace and harmony.
Further, he inaugurated the National Webinar on Mahatma Gandhi – his contemporary relevance. Speakers from USA, Sri Lanka and India delivered their speeches on Gandhi. Prof. H.M. Maheshwaraiahand said that he is very happy to dedicate 100 feet Monumental Indian National Flag to the nation on this auspicious day. He said that Gandh’stwo principles inspire him a lot, that is true love for humanity and Non-violence. Further he said Gandhi’s’ life is a guiding light of the nation, I am proud and happy to be born in the nation where the great soul like Gandhi born. He appreciated the Department of Social Work, and Dean Student Welfare, Central University of Karnataka for jointly organizing the national webinar on Mahatma Gandhi: His Contemporary Relevance.
Mr. Donald F. McAvinchey Clinical Social Worker, United States of America was an invited speaker of the webinar. He shared about how he has get inspired by the Mahatma Gandhi. He saidGandh’s life itself is a philosophy, and he lived it completely by this. I am inspired a lot. Gandhi’s life is the greatest philosophy and model for other human beings. His message to people is …Look at what you are angry about in the world, transform your anger into love, kindness begin to work toward changing that wherever you can.We should not sit back and wait for someone to come and make the change, we should get/start work towards the change which we wish to see in the world, we are the world, we are the source of massive change.First you have to make sure that you will build the potential to be the change maker.
Prof. Rakesh Batabayal Center for Media Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University Delhi, has spoken on Mahatma Gandhi, National Movement and the coming of an aspirational society. Idea of solidarity is attacked today. Notion of isolation preventing poor to interact with rich unknowingly or knowingly creating the blocks,leading towards a marginalized society instead of an inclusive and harmonious society. Compassion what makes us human,Vachnas, the poetic lines of the sharanas of the Kalyana Karnataka region are the guidepost for transforming human life to the highest level of spirituality of work and Compassion. Therefore, compassion and solidarity should be our religion. If we start feeling for others (being empathetic for others) that it will take us near to Gandhi.
Dr. ChristlinRajendram Trainer, Non-violent Communication, Sri Lanka, Spoke on Relevance of Gandhian principles of Non-violence in Non-violent Communication Today. He shared his experiences about the people who suffered the pain of war. We are just thinking, we are not living the principle of Ahimsa. Now it’s a time to think how ahimsa can be inculcated in our life and act accordingly.
Dr. Sebastian Joseph Department of History, Union Christian College, Aluva, Kerala, has deliberated a lecture on Making(s) of Gandhian Strategies and Ideologies’. He said that Gandhi is a man of ideas and strategies. Travelling across India to understand the epistemology of India.He used strategy of travelingto gain epistemological perspectives of Indians. This helped him to establish his principle of life.
Prof.Channaveer R.M Dean Student Welfare, Head Department of Social Work, Central University of Karnataka, spoke on Gandhi and Satyagraha. He said Gandhi and his ideologies, philosophy are always relevant for the constructive development of the mankind. As a Social Work student and teacher we need to reaffirm the importance of Gandhi;s Satyagraha doctrine.Satyagraha should guide the process of social action to bring social change in society. Satyagraha is a dialogical process to eliminate conflict and injustice from society; and let prevail cooperation and justice in society. Therefore, Gandhi as the inventor of Satyagraha has produced and practiced the highest level spiritual tool to transform individuals, groups and society.
Prof.MushtaqAhamed I Patel, Registrar Central University of Karnataka, Kalaburagi,shared his views. He said that we need to introspect our self and look into how we can incorporate the principles of Mahatma Gandhi in our life. Further he said we have to work towards building unity and solidarity. Prof. Romate John Dean, School of Social and Behavioural Sciences, Head Department of Psychology, Central University of Karnataka, Kalaburagi proposed vote of thanks, and Dr. Remya V.P.
