Rs 20 lakh worth relief material to flood hit villages by Sharanabasaveshwar Samasthan

KALABURAGI;  The SharnbasaveshwarSamasthan has begun distribution of the relief material worth over Rs 20 lakhs in the flood hit villages on the banks of the River Bhima and those housed in the relief centres established in different villages in Kalaburagi district.

MahadasohaPeetathipathi of the Sharnbasaveshwar Samasthan Poojya Dr Sharnbaswappa Appaji, who is also the Chancellor of the Sharnbasva University and President of the Sharnbasaveshwar Vidya Vardak Sangha, who took the initiative after witnessing the misery suffered by the flood hit people in the district, has announced that he would not celebrate his birthday falling on November 14 in view of the prevailing pandemic situation and to show his solidarity with the affected people.

PoojyaAppaji also announced that  the birthday celebrations falling on November 01  of his heir apparent and 9th Peetathipathi of the Samasthan Chiranjeevi Doddappa Appaji would also be not celebrated.

Poojya Dr DakshayiniAvvaji, Chairperson of the Sharnbasaveshwar Vidya Vardak Sangha has also decided not to celebrate her birthday celebrations falling on November 22 in view of the pandemic situation and the sufferings of the flood hit population in different parts of the state.

Secretary of the SharnabasaveshwarVidyaVardakSangha Mr BasavarajDeshmukh  who flagged off the vehicles carrying the relief material to the affected areas told presspersons in Kalaburagi city on Saturday that relief materials including the essentials including a blanket, Jowarrotis, vegetables, rice, sweets and other materials packed in separate bags would be distributed to the people in the affected villages in Chincholi, Jewargi, Chitapur, Afsalpurtaluks and other affected areas in Kalaburagi City.

Mr Deshmukh said that if the demand is more from the affected areas, the Samasthan would meet the demand by releasing additional funds for the procurement of the relief materials and supplying the same to the affected areas.   Vice Chancellor of the Sharnbasva University Dr NiranjanNisty, pro Vice Chancellor  Prof V D Mytri,  Registrar Dr AnilkumarBidve, Registrar (Evaluation) Dr Lingraj Shastri, Dean Dr Lakshmi Patil Maka and Head of the Departments of various departments of the University  and the educational institutions run by the Sangha were present.
