Avvaji Birthday celebrations

KALABURAGI;  The Gulbarga North MLA Ms Khanij Fatima released the commemorative postal stamp issued by the Indian Postal Department on the occasion of the 51st birthday of Poojya Dr Dhakshayani Avvaji, Chairperson of the Sharanabasaveshwar Vidya Vardak Sangha at the Conference Hall of the Sharnbasva University in Kalaburagi City on Sunday.

Ms Fatima who also inaugurated a painting exhibition organized on the occasion of the Birthday of Dr Avvaji, released a commemorative Book “Mahadasohigalu” edited by Chairman of the Kannada Department in Sharnbasva Univerity Dr M S Patil.  Ms Fatima also formally cut the cake along with the Secretary of the Sharnbasaveshwar Vidya Vardak Sangha Mr Basavaraj Deshmukh, former Mayor of the Kalaburagi City Corporation Mr Bhimreddy Patil, Mr.Farazul Islam, Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University Prof V D Mytri, Registrar Dr Anilkumar Bidve, Registrar (Evaluation) Dr Lingraj Shastri, Dean Dr Lakshmi Patil Maka and Dr Basavaraj Matpathi and other officials of the University.

Speaking on the occasion Ms Fatima lavished praises on Dr Dakshayini Avvaji for her philanthropic acts and the for kind-heartedness in helping those in the needy. She pointed out how Dr Avvaji went out of the way to provide much needed help and assistance to the poor and the frontline carona warriors during the pandemic and providing them food packets and refreshment regularly.

Apart from helping the poor and needy during the pandemic and in the flood hit and the rain hit areas in Kalaburagi district, Ms Fatima said that Poojya avvaji exhibited her compassion not only towards the suffering human beings, but also the animals by opening a goshala for the abandoned cattles at the farm land owned by the Samasthan at Sultanpur in the outskirts of Kalaburagi city. She said that the Dr Avvaji by her benevolent acts has become a role model for all the women. Recognizing her distinguished contribution in the field of education and social work, the Davanagere University had honoured her with honorary Doctorate to Dr Avvaji.

Former Mayor Mr Bhimreddy Patil said that although Dr Avvaji had declined to celebrate her birthday it has become duty of everybody to organize birthday celebration of Dr Avvaji in recognition of her selfless service to the humanity.

Mr Basavaraj Deshmukh also spoke on the occasion.  The officers of the University and heads of different departments of the University were honored on the occasion.
